As a result, more and more modern city managers have recognized the mascot of the great energy potential city, each city managers have begun to city mascot as the culture of the city’s image of a powerful business card.At present, about the mascot design applications than any other city in China started relatively late compared to developed countries such as America, Japan, is numerous, the problems existing in the urban mascot design problems are more prominent. For this reason, our country city mascot design need to rethink and change, how to design a display urban culture connotation is under the city of modern popular mascot figure, is imminent.Mascot design based on the domestic city problems, through the analysis of influential foreign cities and the mascot case carries on the careful reading, to discuss about the related city mascot design principles and methods, from which to seek breakthrough in the development direction of domestic modern city mascot design, for the shape of the designers and the city’s image as a reference.This thesis mainly is divided into five parts. The first part is mainly to the domestic city mascot development present situation and the level analysis; The second part of this paper is on the city’s image and its transmission principle, way and urban mascot overview of relevant theoretical basis, the analysis of the system in the city and the city image, the connection between the mascot, the mascot in the spread of city image and city has the function and advantages, and problems existing in the current domestic urban mascot design theory research, and puts forward the research purpose of this paper;The third part of this paper is the key part of this paper, mainly based on the related theories of city image in the chapter on analysis of urban mascot design elements, from the aspects of connotation shape, shape modelling and color shape a detailed research, to build urban mascot design based on the image of the city to provide the theory support. The fourth part is the key part of this thesis, mainly from the overseas outstanding cities mascot case to extract the mascot in the modelling design shaping the image of the city and spread the essence of urban culture, and combined with the future trend about the development of the city of the mascot design, through the aspects of the obtained conclusion based on the city image of the mascot design principles and methods; The main content of the last part is in accordance with the above research to guide the author chose to xiaogan city mascot design practice to explore, for the future provide feasible method for the design of urban mascot, also for designers or city managers to broaden the train of thought.Innovation point of this thesis is to based on the city image of the mascot design research, analysis of city image application in the city of the mascot design elements, according to the foreign outstanding case analysis based on the image of the city’s urban mascot design summarizes related principle and method to give the author provide theoretical basis for the practice of design; Through the author’s design practice to explain the rationality of theoretical research and design method is feasible.
