Abstract/Summary:
In the modern literary history, Fei Ming is famous and accepted by his achievement in novel. But different types of literature are interlinked, the only difference is just expression. Fei Ming also made great achievement in poetry and prose. However, not the same as the set of stories and poems which is available in special corpus for study, prose he wrote early years ago were widespread in various newspapers and magazines. At the same time, Fei Ming has a deep thought and his words are difficult to understand. Those reason leads to few focus and research findings in prose. As less is more, the study of Fei Ming’s prose has its value and significance.Throughout the prose which Fei Ming wrote in his life, it can be divided by the time of founding of new China. Prose he wrote before the founding, from 1920s to 1940s, is rich in forms and species. Generally speaking, his prose can be divided into literary prose, prose argumentative essays and other category. Prose he wrote after the founding focus on research of Du Fu and Maoism. Because literature reference is not as same as those wrote before the founding and the research of Fei Ming’s prose can’t be done overnight. As a result, this paper select Fei Ming’s early prose wrote from 1920s to 1940s as study subjects and prepare for subsequent research.Fei Ming’s prose from 1920s to-1940s, has shown his intention and writing style as a astronomer and philosopher thought. Three kinds of ideological content and four artistic features can be used as a focus on Fei Ming’s prose research. In Fei Ming’s prose, we can not only see features of traditional literature but also the modern culture; not only find the enlightenment of Zen Buddhism but also ethics of Confucian and peripateticism of Taoism. In his prose, we always find the land of idyllic beauty sight. Therefore, Fei Ming’s main ideological content can be summarized as three aspect:swallow anything and everything of traditional and modern literature, self-salvation in his religious life and yearning for native soil. The four artistic features of Fei Ming’s prose came from his three kinds of main ideas and feed back into his three ideas. His four artistic features can be summarized as stretches of time pattern, unique style of language image, multiply narrative strategy and disposition which mixed by the Buddhism and literature. Moreover, through the discussion of three main ideas and four artistic features of Fei Ming’s early prose, we can summed up its value:the ideological value helps us to understand changing of his thought and whole thought style of Jing School literature and their writers, the academic value enlightens later research and the historical value reproduces real historical scenes.
