Qiangzhi And The Study Of His Poetry

Qiangzhi (1022-1076),whose courtesy name was Jisheng,became the Jinshi after the civil service examination in the sixth year of Emperor Qingli.His highest official position was Cibulangzhong.He was the author of Hanzhong xiangongyishi and Cibuji of thirty five volumes.His article is concise and the level is so high,while his poems are contemplative and high moral upright.According to Sikutiyao,his works were unique in Beisong Dynasty.Zenggong did the preface for his anthology,and said,"especially, Qiangzhi was good at poetry,his words were amazing. "Obviously,Qiangzhi has an important status in the poetry area of the Song Dynasty,which should be worthy of our attention.This paper is divided into three parts,including introduction, main body and conclusion.The Introduction section briefly describes Qiangzhi’s biographical profiles,and explains the significance of this study,the relative research status and methods.This part focuses on the current situation of Qiangzhi himself and his works for having a general understanding of him,in order to write this dissertation properly.The main body will have a comprehensive discussion of his life, family background and social experience.On this basis, the ideological contents and artistic features of Qiangzhi’s poetry will be studied.And then,I will summarize his philosophical thoughts of Lixue.Finally,I will try to define his status in the poetry area in Song Dynasty. The dissertation is divided into five chapters. The details are as follows.The first chapter is the overview of Qiangzhi’s life. It includes his family background, personality character, experience in politics respectively.Chapter two mainly elaborates his social experience.The narratives,based on different objects,are represented separately.Related people are divided into three categories,namely,the pivotal officials who appreciated Qiangzhi’s talents,close friends who care about both his daily life and literary creation,and the monks who have impact on his thoughts.The next chapter summarizes his thoughts,including his officialdom thought and philosophy(Lixue).Chapter focuses on the content analysis of Qiangzhi’s poetry,tables of the contents are attached to the end of the paper. The contents are divided into three categories,they are poetry about friendship,poetry about scenery and lyric poetry. Each of these categories is divided into various categories to discuss in details.Chapter five mainly discusses the artistic style and artistic techniques of Qiangzhi’s poetry.The so-called Reflection of one’s Life is based on the background information.Thus, the final summary of the main body analyses the influence of poetic status on his creation,based on the background of the development of the art of poetry at that time. And then,I will analyze the impact of Qiangzhi’s poetry to the development of poetic creation and define.his status in the poetic area of Song Dynasty.
