To release the tough problem of aging population, the World Health Organization put forward the project of WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities in 2002 so that old people could enjoy a happy and healthy life in their later years, and that the social economy would be eventually improved. The project has been so welcomed by cities and regions that they apply for participation, especially those in Taiwan, for instance, Kinmen is just one of them. This report, based on WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities of Kinmen, Taiwan, discusses what strategies should be made in promotional publicity translation and the typical translation phenomena existing in the process. Finally, relevant translation methods are proposed. This report is mainly guided by the translation theory of Peter Newmark. Communicative Translation strategy is used to guide the translation of source text, supplemented by Semantic Translation. In terms of cultural communication, Domestication strategy is used to guide the translation, supplemented by Foreignization via analyzing the source text comprehensively. More specific methods are used to deal with typical phenomena that exist in source text including translation of long sentences, culturally-bounded words, illustration of relevant figures and tables, slogans, sentences of no subjects as well as translation of tables, etc. The report is expected to provide workable reference for similar research and practice of translation in the future.
