A Research Report On Guidelines On The Production And Preservation Of Digital Audio Objects IASA-TC04 (Second Edition)

As a special style of English, English for Science and Technology(EST) has its own features in both lexical and syntactic structure, which requires translators to be familiar with its stylistic features, to understand its subject and to get a good command of translation principles and methods, and apply them flexibly to translation practice. In this report, the author summarizes and analyzes the English for electronic science and technology translation program of Guidelines on the Production and Preservation of Digital Audio Objects IASA-TC04 (Second Edition) completed by herself, and further probes into the translation strategies and methods of EST.The whole report comprises five major parts. The first part is introduction, describing the background and objectives of the translation program. The second part introduces the overall translation program by describing the content of the program, the requirements of the client, and the features of the original text. The third part specifically describes the entire process of the translation, including the analysis and preparation before translation, the solution and confirmation during translation and the discussion and proofreading after translation. Combining with some examples appeared in the translation practice, the forth part clearly presents the unique features of EST focusing on the lexical and syntactic aspects and concretely discusses the translation methods used in tackling with the difficulties encountered in. The last part gives a summary of the whole report.
