As a report on the English-Chinese translation of science and technology text, this report describes a translation task conducted by the author in 2014, Chapter 6 & 7 of Eye Tracking in User Experience Design, and discusses common difficulties in the translation as well as possible coping strategies and solutions.The report is divided into four parts, including Task Introduction, Description of the Translation Process, Case Analysis, and Conclusion. Task Introduction introduces the source and feature of the text as well as the client’s requirements. The second part is about the Translation Process. It mainly describes the planning, criteria and schedule of the translation work. The third part, Case Analysis, gives analyses of translation problems concerning term, sentence and headline translation. In order to make the Chinese version accord with Chinese logic, professional, objective and vigorous, and fully convey the technical information, the author, with the guidance of Skopos Theory, uses the Principle of Integration, takes such strategies as literal translation, liberal translation, adaptation translation, zero translation and word order adjusting. The last part is Conclusion, in which the author mainly talks about the importance of preparation, professional knowledge as well as assistive tools, the advantages and disadvantages for an engineering graduate to take MTI, some strategies of translating scientific and technical text, the inspiration from the task and the expectation for the future.
