In expectations and confusions, human beings has walking into the twenty-first century. Reviewing the past century, the identity of national culture has already become an unavoidable problem. In cultural change and integration, cultural identity is an inevitable issue we have to face, because it is a social psychological process to keep and innovate our national culture.’Nation’ is the most problematic and controversial term in academic field, many scholars simply does not make a precise definition of this term, but skip it to analyze the relevant theory of nation, such as nationality, nationalism, national identity, etc. In this century, the word ’identity’ is widely and frequently used. It is not only a kind of psychological phenomenon of social existence, but also a philosophical category which many disciplines focus on. In the domain of philosophy, identity has a very abundant content, representing the measured results between individual and other members of the society. The identity of national culture is emerged from the process of interaction. Each nation and ethnic group has its own internal generation and conversion mechanism of cultural heritage, particularly reflected in the cultural adaptation process and national culture system. Through using the thoughts, behaviors and traditions to define their national culture, the nation-cultural unit of every nation forms different social cultural norms and behavior modes. Nowadays, the communicative practice of globalization increases the cultural collision of all the nations, each nation’s culture and its cultural development model are faced with the ’erosion’ risk of other national culture. Because of the changes of their culture, national members constantly looking for and defending their national foundation and self attribution, in the collision, even the conflict between traditional culture and modern culture, local culture and alloplasm culture. The identity of national culture is the common concern for the whole nation and every national member. Only in the exchanges and conflicts, could the culture developed, and then solidified its specific character. And only in the identity and adaption of national culture which the national member bears, could the national culture’s heritage and change upheld and carried forward the motive process of nation-cultural identity. This is the key point to maintain the cohesion and spirit of a nation. It is very important for both the individual and the whole national culture’s survival and development.This article starts with defining the term ’nation’ and analyzing the essential different between ’nation and state’,’nation and ethnic group’, then making a self interpretation to the identity of national culture. In the aspect of content, this article specifically and detailedly analyses the identity of national culture, and points out that the core values of national culture has a irreplaceable significance and function for realizing the identity of national culture. The full text has three aspects of argumentation:the connotation of national culture, the value of nation-cultural identity, the means of realizing the identity of national culture. Through the further argument I emphasizes the importance of cultural identity for national solidarity and cohesion, and deepens the relations of the national and cultural identity which profoundly affecting the history and reality of human beings. This paper does not stick to the simple investigation of the identity of national culture, it reviews this issue from the dimensions of philosophy, ethnology, sociology, psychology and anthropology angles. In practice, emphasizes the the basic position of national culture’s core value in cultural identity, at the same time, points out the integral principle of value for popular culture.
