This report is based on the translating of Chapter 3 and 4 of the book Climate Confusion: How Global Warming Hysteria Leads to Bad Science, Pandering Politicians and Misguided Policies That Hurt the Poor(hereinafter referred to as Climate Confusion). In this book, climatologist and former NASA scientist Roy Spencer shows that fears about global warming are vastly exaggerated and are driven by politics, not truth. He shows that a global super-storm has already arrived, but it is a storm of hype and hysteria. He combines impeccable scientific authority with great wit and literary panache to expose the hysteria surrounding the myths of global warming and climate change. One of the most obvious panache is foregrounding. In this book,Roy adopts various foregrounding means to highlight his emotions and stands. The translator pays special attention to this and does her best to reproduce these features in the translation. In the report, the translator describes the translation task and process. She analyzes the foregrounding features of the source text and displays how she reproduces them in the target text. At the end of the report, the translator sums up the things she has learned from this experience.
