A Practice Report On The Translation Of Pressure Vessel General Specification

The practice report, on the basis of the author’s translation of Pressure Vessel General Specification into Chinese, analyzes the process of translation and summarizes some experience. The translation task is provided by a company in Shijiazhuang. After the translated text is submitted, the company comments that the translation is acceptable with standard technical terms and fluent target language.The report consists of four parts: Task description, Process Description, Case Analysis and Summary. The first chapter is composed of the source of the task, content, text form and task requirements. The second chapter describes the process, including preparations before translation, translation process and revision process. The third chapter, which forms the core part, is case analysis. In this section, the author, based on the principle of “accuracy” and “fluency”, analyzes the translated text from lexical level and syntactic level and discusses some problems encountered in the translation process and strategies employed. Finally, the author sums up what he has learned from the translation practice.Through the translation, the author has got profound understanding of translation, especially technical translation. Translators should strive to ensure the accuracy and fluency of translation by comprehending original text and disposing all kinds of problems flexibly during the process of translation.
