The translation material is entitled The Gendered Society which was by Michael Kimmel, and was first published by Oxford University Press in 2000. Its fourth edition came out in 2011. The whole book has 13 chapters with 1,286,206 words, totaling 472 pages. Chapter Two is translated by the author from page 21 to page 33.The book illustrates the two world’s most influential topics: gender difference and social gender inequality. Chapter Two elaborates the gender psychology and behaviors during evolution caused by gender biological differences,and defends women on some arguments debasing women based on gender biological differences.The Gendered Society is social science academic work,mainly a informative textwith expressive text included. The translation strategies the report adopted aremainly the communicative translation, supplemented by semantic translation underthe guidance of the “ functional equivalence” put up by Eugene A Nida.
