Proverbs richness on profound cultural information. It has abundant quantity of numbers in proverbs in Chinese and Bahasa. its structure, and its unique rhetoric and culture aspects put together make a valuable research.This research paper explores two Chinese and Bahasa authoritative reference books, received a total of 572 Chinese proverbs with number, and 351 Bahasa proverbs with number. This study goes through a comparison analysis on its differences about the numbers in proverbs of Chinese and Bahasa from different aspects such as the language structure, rhyme and rhetoric along with its culture connotation. Furthermore, the comparison results are based to come up with recommendations to teaching proverbs for Indonesian students.The main content of this paper is as follow:The introdu, describes the object of the study, It is mainly focused with a prologue of proverbs in Chinese and Bahasa and its respective definitions and advances with the delimitation of numbers in proverbs. Moreover, it describes the norm of the current situation from the researches about Chinese proverbs, Bahasa proverbs and Chinese-foreign comparison studies.The first chapter talks about comparing the numbers and sentence structure of Chinese and Bahasa proverbs.The second chapter discusses the number in proverbs of Chinese and Bahasa with its rhyme scheme respectively. It is mainly focused with its rhyme and rhythm form, as well as its figurative speech chiefly with metaphor, hyperbole, comparison and contrastive studyThe third chapter elucidates and compares the cultural connotation about the number in proverbs of the mentioned languages including geographic culture, folk culture and religious culture.The fourth chapter proposes suggestions for teaching number in proverbs of Chinese language to Indonesian students based from the comparison outcomes.
