The geopolitical advantages between China and Myanmar made a lot of Chinese migrate to Myanmar. Those Chinese settlers gradually formed Chinese community groups in the local area. To inherit the tradition of Chinese culture, the Chinese greatly promoted Chinese language education in Myanmar. This fosters the learning and use of Chinese among them. Chinese usage is closely related to the rise and fall of Chinese education, which are both inextricably related with the social status of Chinese in Myanmar. With the continuous development of Chinese education in Myanmar, how much space will be given to the usage of Chinese? What assistance and resistance has Chinese come across in different occasions? The survey of Chinese usage is the way to verify Chinese education. How much Chinese can be used in a certain degree influences the attitude of students learning Chinese and affects the development of their Chinese proficiency. This paper aims to propose targeted advice to further the development of international promotion of Chinese in Myanmar by investigation and analysis of Chinese usage.In addition to the abstract and conclusion, this paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter briefly describes the evolution of the history and current situation of the Chinese society and Chinese education in Taunggyi. The second chapter mainly introduces the survey’s respondents, scope, content and method. The third chapter surveys the Chinese usage in Taunggyi. Different occasions and different areas were specifically investigated. The fourth chapter talks about the reasons about the Chinese usage by Taunggyi Chinese in terms of favorable and unfavorable factors, wherein each section is also divided into a number of small points for analysis. The fifth chapter proposes targeted advice to further the development of international promotion of Chinese in Myanmar based on the previous chapters.The survey finds out that the Taunggyi Chinese speaks more Chinese in the family environment where the communication objects are relatively simple and focused. In the campus environment of Chinese schools, there are significant differences in using Chinese in class and outside class. In various public places, the Chinese usage is very low. It means that with the communication objects becoming more complicated, the Chinese usage begins to decrease. In the exchange of political and economic topics, the Taunggyi Chinese use more Chinese. In acquiring political and economic information, sound media uses more Chinese while print media uses less.It is the same in the cultural field. Language is not only limited by the ability and attitude of the language user, but also by the locale, communication objects, and related accesses to information. I believe that more locales and more convenient accesses to information shall be provided in Taunggyi to promote more usage of Chinese. Only by raising the awareness of Chinese in the local community and foster the local residents beyond Chinese to take the initiative to learn and use Chinese can more Chinese language environment be created and the utilization of Chinese fundamentally be improved.
