As the only writer who won the Mao Dun prize for Literature twicein the contemporary Chinese literature history,Zhang Jie isoutstanding for her unique artistic style.Prose is an obbligato part ofZhang Jie’s creation work.This paper will study on her famous prose“Gone is the one who held me dearest in the world”.In the ninety’s ofthe last century, Zhang Jie published a large number of prose writings,however, the academic research in this field was in a state of blank.This paper will do detailed text analysis based on the widelyinfluenced prose “Gone is the one who held me dearest in theworld”.In addition, the article will illustrate the value of her creationwork by taking comparison between the prose and the film of thesame name.The first part of this article mainly analyzed Zhang Jie’sprose creation work and the cultural background. The second partmeticulously analyzed the full-length prose “Gone is the one who heldme dearest in the world”. The third part compared the differencebetween the film and the novel, to make the research tend to a deeperstate.
