| Zhang Pu’s prose is "rich and graceful,with the merits of both the family and the common people." In his lifetime,he has created more than 1000 prose works,including prefaces and postscripts,biographies,epitaphs,inscriptions,commentaries,tables,performances,and other literary styles.These articles embody Zhang Pu’s political and philosophical views.The outlook on life also depicted the whole track of his life.Studying his prose can help us to understand more deeply the ideological basis of organizing the activities of associations in the late Ming Dynasty and the causes of his academic and political thoughts,which is very important for us to understand Zhang Puqi in an all-round way.On the other hand,as an important writer of the late Ming Dynasty literature retro-movement,Zhang Pu’s literary creation needs to be further understood.To explore this can help us to improve the understanding of the retro-movement and the shape of prose in the late Ming Dynasty.In order to explore Zhang Pu and his prose in depth,this paper is divided into six chapters:The first chapter mainly deals with Zhang Pu’s family background and life,focusing on the ups and downs of his family environment and life.Family conditions and childhood life have a great influence on his personality and education.Zhang Pu lived in the late Ming Dynasty.The political and ideological characteristics of this era have great influence on his life and literary creation.The second and third chapters elaborate on Zhang Pu’s participation in anti-castration activities and community activities.Zhang Pu was very active in the political arena and social bureau at the end of Ming Dynasty.If we want to make a comprehensive investigation of his literary achievements,it is an important link to sort out his political and social activities.These events not only influenced Zhang Pu’s life trend,but also left a deep impression in his thoughts and prose.The fourth and fifth chapters explore the ideological connotation contained in Zhang Pu’s prose.This article intends to divide his thoughts into two parts: the Confucian classics and the scholarly ones.The classical chapter mainly discussesZhang Pu’s political thought of "to emperor and Zemin,to use words" and his thought of "preparing five ethics,feeling and meaning".The scholarly chapter mainly discusses Zhang Pu’s eight-part essay thought of "learning classics to learn ancient times,to be useful" and his thought of "learning classics to review history,to review ancient and modern times".Chapter six explores Zhang Pu’s literary ideas and prose concepts in his prose.In terms of literary criticism,he patriarchal Han and Wei dynasties,and adopted eight schools of thought in Tang and Song dynasties.He basically agreed with the idea of the Seven-sons’ retro-classics and improved some aspects.He also made obscure criticism of Jingling School’s literary ideas.He takes care of many classical literary theories,such as the doctrine of literary expression,the view of literary style,the view of literary quality,the view of style and character,the view of literary style,etc.Through the exploration,it is found that Zhang Pu’s literary concept is more systematic and comprehensive.The seventh chapter is a further study and explanation of Zhang Pu’s creative techniques and artistic characteristics of prose.This chapter will discuss the artistic features of Zhang Pu’s four main literary styles,focusing on the combination of the preamble and postscript with Confucian style,the vigorous momentum and historian thinking of the argumentation,the narrative of tablets,biographical folders and sharp brushwork. |
