The article made a comparative study of frequency adverbs “meimei†and“changchang†mainly from three aspects with the cognitive aspect of discussion:Semantic features, syntactic functions and pragmatic functions. Finally, put forwardreasonable suggestions for teaching Chinese as a foreign language from theperspective of teaching.In the part of semantic features, we discussed from “meimei†and “changchangâ€the basic semantics, semantic orientation, the characteristics of the time, they wereanalyzed and compared in detail. On the semantic direction,“meimei†and“changchang†are after referring adverbs. In the time aspect, their internal time ischaracterized can be long and short-term, In the external features of time,“meimeiâ€can only be modified with To1and To2, can’t be modified with To3.While“changchang†can be modified with To1, To2, To3.In the part of syntactic distribution, this paper mainly explored the choice of“meimei†and “changchang†for verbs, collocation select condition on dynamicauxiliary words “zheâ€â€œleâ€â€œguoâ€, the structural auxiliary word “de†and the position inthe sentence. In the part of choice for verbs, this paper uses Verb ClassificationMethod of Guo Rui. When modifying state verbs, modification is the entire state ofphrasal verbs. When modifying action verbs, it’s need to add object or complementbehind “meimeiâ€, while there is no such requirement for “changchangâ€. Whenmodifying change verbs, they can come up with Vd1and Ve,“changchang†can comeup with Vd2while “meimei†can’t. They can be at the beginning of a sentence andcan also be in the sentence.In the part of pragmatic functions, we mainly discussed the use of “meimei†and“changchang†in declarative sentences, interrogative sentences, exclamatory sentenceand imperative sentence.“meimei†and “changchangâ€can appear in the affirmativesentence.“changchang†can appear in negative sentences while “meimei†can’t.“changchang†can emerge in all of the interrogative sentence while “meimei†can only appear in the special question sentence and the rhetorical question sentence.“meimeiâ€and “changchang†are used in exclamations with similar to the declarative sentencesin the forms of statement and an exclamation mark at the end.“changchang†can beused in imperative while “meimei†can’t.“meimei†and “changchang†can becomethe sentence of focus sensitive operator,“changchang†also can be the semantic focusand the contrastive focus.“meimei†cannot appear in spoken Chinese, while“changchang†can appear both in spoken Chinese and written language.Lastly, we applied the research results of "meimei" and "changchang" in thesemantic features, syntactic functions and pragmatic functions to teaching practice.The purpose is to help students use two adverbs in writing and daily life correctly. |
