We dividedthe Frequency Adverbs into three diferent classification:evaluativeã€restrictiveã€decriptive according to a series of standard. On this basis,we firsly discussed thenature of quantified objects of the Frequency Adverbs, furthermore,we describedand explained the differences between the sub-classes of the Frequenct Adverbs. The full paper is composed of7chapters.The first chapter is an introduction. In this chapter, we have summarized therelated research of scholars, and pointed out the existing problems in the presentresearches. On this basis, we also introduced the research contents, researchmethods and the source corpus. The second chapter centres on the scope and classification.Combined the theexisting related researches, we have confirmed the scope of the Frequency Adverbsaccording to an special standard that whether the adverbs could represent the amountof repetitions of actionsã€behaviorsã€eventsã€states. On this basis,we have dividedthe Frequency Adverbs into three different classes:evaluativeã€restrictiveã€decriptive. Furthermore,we have divided the restrictive frequency adverbs intohighã€mediumã€low, and divided the decriptive frequency adverbs into two sub-classes:dynamic and static. We have built a new adverbs of frequency classification frameworkthrough those aboved works. The third chapter discussed the nature of quantified objects of the FrequencyAdverbs and the explanations of some relevant syntactic phenomenons. Based on therelated researches, we considered that boundness was different level fromrepeatability, and we could not explain the constraints on the selection predicateif relied solely on the verbs wether bounded or not. On this basis,we considerethat the quantified objects of the Frequency Adverbs was event kind which was notassociated with an particular temporal and spatial characteristic.According to this viewpoint,we could explain the co-occurrence restrictions between the differentclasses of the Frequency Adverbs and the dynamic auxiliary“le(了)ã€zhe(ç€ï¼‰ã€guo(过)â€.The fourth chapter discussed the gradablity of the restrictive frequency adverbsand the corresponding syntactic form.We considered that the gradablity was theessential factor which could explain why the the restrictive frequency adverbs couldbe modified by the negative adverb “bu(ä¸)â€while the descriptive frequencyadverbs could not. On this basis,we considered the gradablity could lead to asymmetryof co-occurrence between the different sub-classes of the restrictive frequencyadverbs and the similar adverb “ye(也)â€ï¼Œin addition, the semantic structure of“ye(也)â€sentence and the principle which the important component usually lies atthe front played some important roles. The fifth chapter focused on the internal differences of the descriptivefrequency adverbs.Firstly,we discussed the expressive differences between the twosub-classes of the descriptive frequency adverbs——the dynamics could not only beused to describe a specific scene, but also for stating a factï¼›the statics couldbe used only to stating a fact. On this basis,we did some comparative studies betweenseveral groups of similar words, furthermore,we discussed the construction of“lü(屡) X bu(ä¸) Yâ€.In the end,we discussed the cognitive factors behind theinternal opposition between the dynamics and the statics in the frequency adverbsthrough the compare between “pinpin(频频)â€and “lülü(屡屡)†who were the typicalmember of the dynamics and the statics. The sixth chapter discussed the subjectivityã€subjectivisation and some relatedissues. We mainly discussed the subjectivity and subjectivisation of the evaluativefrequency adverbs like “lao(è€)â€ã€â€œlaoshi(è€æ˜¯)â€ã€â€œdongzhe(动辄)â€ã€â€œdongbudong(动ä¸åЍ)â€ï¼Œin addition,we discussed the lexicalization of“dongzhe(动辄)â€ã€â€œdongbudong(动ä¸åЍ)â€.Chapter seventh is the conclusion. In this part, we summarized the main pointsof the full text, and pointed out the main innovation of this paper as well asshortcomings. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Frequency Adverbs, event kind, gradability, cognitive scanning, subjectivity, subjectivisation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
