Under the circumstances of globalization, China has connected with other countries tightly.International exchanges between different cultures and languages have extended to moreextensive fields not merely in politics, economy and culture with the help of the high-speeddevelopment of science and technology. So lots of methods are used to exchange ideas withother countries. Among them, press conference is one of the main ways to let us know currentevents and situations in the international community, and give other countries a good chance toknow China. Therefore, press conference is employed by many institutions, organizations andbusiness companies. But how to make the audience understand what the speaker is saying andguarantee the communication of on-site press conference to proceed smoothly and successfullywithout obstacles, simultaneous interpreting is brought in for it’s advantage of high-efficiency.SI is widely applied in international conferences, culture exchanges and business meetings.But most of relevant research about SI is on E-C SI in China. Some interpreting theories andtechniques have been put forward to guide the process of SI. However, there is a big differencebetween theoretical study and the field work. How to make these theories and skills better guideinterpreters and the whole authentic process of SI is a question which needs answer throughthousands of simulated practices. This report attempts to analyze and assesses detailedprocedures of simulated SI from the perspective of C-E interpreting, and tries to study thepracticality and feasibility of the techniques with a view to explore the methods for theimprovement of interpreting quality and to shed enlightenment on future interpreting studies.This simulated SI is designed and conducted by the author.. The layout is as follows:The author takes the press conference of Tenguard as the material for this practice reportand describes the interpreting process in detail. Interpreter’s performance is taken as example tofind the problems in the process and the whole process is analyzed accordingly. The reportconsists of4chapters: To begin with, the author gives a brief introduction of the background ofthe task, features of the speech and requirements for the task. In Chapter Two, pre-interpretingpreparations and some preparations for interpreter are displayed, besides, emergency plan is alsodesigned. In Chapter Three, the Interpretive Theory and Effort Models about energy distribution are brought in to guide the simulation. In the last chapter, the author selects some obviousproblems from the simulated SI and puts forward solutions accordingly.
