Research Of Digital Stone Rubbings

Filling in the new visual media today, the production, protection and collection of traditional rubbings is still highly valued, especially stone rubbings become special collections in many libraries. Stone rubbings own precious nature and the particularity of its security protection, which have a profound impact on the development and utilization of stone rubbings. Therefore the digital construction of stone rubbings is imperative.The digital construction of stone rubbings can effectively solve the contradiction between conservation and utilization of stone rubbings, and it is also an important means of protection and inheritance pass extension of the traditional culture techniques. Through researching and comparing existing rubbings metadata standards to derive reference and inspiration to develop a simple stone rubbings metadata schema. Besides, on the basis of in-depth study of stone rubbings literature digitized object selection, the hardware and software configurations and the workflow, clarify stone rubbings document digitization’s practical application in different fields.Firstly, this paper makes an overview about the concept, type, characteristics of stone rubbings literature, and the status of the production and preservation.Secondly, the paper carried on the systematic elaboration and analysis about the specification construction of rubbings literature digitization standards and introduced existing metadata rubbings standards. The paper has made a comparing study on which the more mature,"Peking University Library rubbings metadata standards" and Taiwan History and Philology Institute " digital Archives program of rubbings and paleography cum digital archives program of rubbings about Liao Jin and Yuan including metadata(2.0version)", learned and got inspiration to design a simple stone rubbing metadata specification. Third, the paper has analyzed the literature stone rubbings selected on the basis of digital objects and problems should be noted. Proposed construction of digital objects should be finishing stone rubbings through the system, and to follow the real, practical, targeted principle.Fourth, combining of the characteristics of stone rubbings, the paper has introduced the hardware and software configuration of the device applied to Stone rubbings digital construction and clarified specific workflow.Finally, the paper from the perspective of a particular application, describes the application in read and practice, literature review and applied research as well as academic research in the field of traditional Chinese and other aspects after the digital construction of stone rubbings.
