The Pretermission And Errors Of Interpreting In C-E Consecutive Interpreting

China’s translation and interpretation has developed rapidly in the recent30years. On the one hand, it is due to the development of China’s reform and opening up policy; on the other hand, China’s economic and cultural development rapidly raises its international status, and foreign exchange is increasing, which leads to an increasingly greater demand for translation and interpretation, especially on interpretation. Interpretation, as the bridge for the communication between countries and areas, is playing a more and more important role and lays a sound foundation for the international communication.Consecutive interpreting is one kind of interpretation and also a translation activity. It refers to the process of interpreter taking notes while listening to the speaker speaking in source language. When the speaker finishes speaking or stops to wait for the interpreting, the interpreter accurately and completely re-expresses the speaker’s whole information in clear and natural target language."Accuracy, charity and fluency" are the standards to judge whether the interpreting is acceptable. However, the high-intensive mental activity and pressure from the interpretation site makes it inevitable to produce the pretermission and errors of interpreting.The thesis mainly discusses the pretermission and errors of interpreting during the C-E consecutive interpreting. Based on Corder’s Errors Analysis Theory and the Theory of Sense and the author’s personal experiences, the author of the thesis will further analyze the problems therein. The author selects two of her own interpreting practice as the case and deeply explores the problems. The thesis will categorize the miss of interpreting and the misinterpreting during the consecutive interpreting, find out the reasons and try to put forward the solutions.Through the introduction and specific analysis of the cases, the author of the thesis will summarize the types of the pretermission and errors of interpreting during the C-E consecutive interpreting, find the reasons and offer advice for improvement. It is significant for the author to efficiently avoid some pretermission and errors of interpreting in the future interpreting practice and improve the interpreting output. Meanwhile, it enriches this kind of research and makes some contribution to the development of China’s interpretation.
