This article explores the motivation and motiviational strategies on Chinese learning of the Hungarian students. As a Chinese volunteer teacher, I spent one year teaching in Miskolc Universtiy Confucius Institute.Miskolc Universtiy Confucius Institute is the third Confucius Institute in Hungary, and the students here were very enthusiastic about learning Chinese. Many students choose Chinese as their second language during their four-year university life. I was very interested in the students’ Chinese learning motivation here. So after collecting enough information, I named my article "Analysis of The Motivation and Motivational Strategies on Chinese Learning of Hungarian Students-A Case Study of Miskolc Confucius Institute".This article consists of five chapters. The first chapter is preface, which introduces the background, objects and methods of the research. As for the second chapter, it mainly describes the some theories from abroad and home which focus on the second language learning motivation and motiviational strategies. To this article, the most important theories are Gardner and Lambert’s "instrumental motivation and integrative motivation" and Dornyei’s "three levels" motivation. According to The Dornyei’s theory, motivation is divided into three levels, the names of which are called language level, learner level and situation level. The third chapter contains several parts:questionnaire design, the analysis of the overall situation of each question’s mean value, and three factors which could affect the students’Chinese learning motivation deeply. The questionnaire was completed after two steps. The first step is a survey that consists of four qustions. The second step is motivation-divided. According to the students’answers of the four questions, we divide all motivations into different types, then design the final questionnaire. By the analysis of each question’s mean value we have concluded that the students of Miskolc University Confucius Institute have strong learning motivation, and their external motivation is stronger than internal motivation. In "the three levels" of learning motivation, the learning-situation level is the strongest, and the score of "I am very satisfied with my teacher" is the highest. So teachers do play an important role in stimulating Miskolc Confucius Institute students’ learning motivation. The three factors are gender, age and learning time. Then we analysis the three aspects. In terms of gender, female learners’ motivation are stronger than male learners, their acception of Chinese are higher than male. Male learners show negative motivation on the language and culture, while they pay more attention to self-promotion and furture jobs. In terms of age, learning motivation are gradually decreasing with the increase of age.Students who are above25have less interest in Chinese culture. Students who are less than25are on the contrary, they are willing to participate in Chinese class actively, and also cooperate very well with their teachers and classmates. In terms of learning time, students who have already learnt1year show strong learning motivation than beginner students, they know more about Chinese and Chinese culture, and their goals are more clearly than beginner students. The fourth chapter is about the motiviational strategies. It is based on the analysis of the questionnair and the whole year’s teaching experience. It is expounded from three aspects:teaching aspect, studying aspect and social aspect. Teaching aspect is expounded from four parts, the ability of teachers, the classroom organization, teaching materials, and students with different personality. Studying aspect is expounded from three parts, self-confidence, learning habits, and learning atmosphere. Social aspect is expounded from country, company and school’s strongly support. The last chapter is the conclusion, mainly summarize the article. I hope the analysis about Hungarian students’ Chinese learning motivation and motivational strategies can strengthen the Miskolc University Confucius Institute students’ interest in learning Chinese, and provide effective help to other Chinese teachers. In a word, my purpose is to promote the Chinese teaching career in Hungary.
