With the progress of world economic globalization, more and more transnationalexchanges&cooperation on engineering management and technique require that constructionproject management should be in accordance with international models. And project managementwill also be widely applied in the areas of software, information, mechanical engineering, culture, petrochemical, steel, etc. Thus it becomes far more important to deal well with E-Ctranslation of project management materials introduced from abroad.Project management is usually featured with a wide scope, much information and strongspecialty. So the translator must have a good command of both Chinese&English languages, relevant technical expertise, and also need work out some translation strategies to resolve theproblems in translation. In Vermeer’s Scopostheorie, the original text is just the source of information. Whatmatters the most to translation is the purpose of translation and the receptor of the translatedtext. There are three rules for translation: the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the fidelityrule, among which, the top-ranking rule,‘Skopos rule’, requires that a translational action isdetermined by its Skopos, that is,‘the end justifies the means’. So Vermeer’s Scopostheorieapplies to non-literary translation, and provides valuable guidance for E-C translation ofproject management. This report, based on Vermeer’s three rules and taking the translationproject as a case, analyses the typical problems in E-C translation of project managementfrom the aspects of commonly-used words and jargons, clarifying logical relations, definitionand graphic formula, etc.At last, this report aims to conclude some translation strategies on E-C translation ofproject management materials, and hope that the translation circle attaches much moreimportance to the translation research in this field.
