| The Taoist meditation is one of Taoism’s famous practice, whose theoretical bases including the thoughts of keeping quiet and inaction, the theory that man is integral part of nature, the unity of form and spirit, the Five Elements theory and the theory of Viscerae and Bowels. This practice has a long history and its ideology was initially established when it comes to the Huang-ting Ching. As a classic of Taoism Shangqing Sect, Huang-ting Ching developed the practice of meditation from the past and gathered together the thoughts of Five-viscerae-god, the method of hanging portraits and meditating, the ideology of thirty-nine-gods. It not only summarized the meditation before itself, but also inspired the following development. Therefore Huang-ting Ching is a periodical representative work of meditation, which serves as a link between past and future.By studying the documentary and using logical analysis, the paper treats of the theoretical origins, basic specific features and value of meditation. To be specific, firstly research on its classification and theoretical bases. Secondly research on the meditation of Tai-ping Ching and Da-dong Chen-ching. Thirdly research on its essential principles, features, relation with other practices and how it developed into Hung-ting Ching. Finally evaluate Huang-ting Ching’s meditation, including how it works, how can it be improved, its philosophy of life and its modern value.The main standpoint of this paper is that, the meditation of Huang-ting Ching is one of the most important health preserving practice in Chinese history. It not only has valuable health-preserving effect, but also is imperfect, which push forward its further development. On the other hand, as a classic of Taoist inner training, Huang-ting Ching played an important role in Taosit history. It not only builded the base of Shangqing Sect inner Training, but also lead to many different fields of study. |
