| Based on the original text, Chapter one Three Heroes Swear Brotherhood in the Peach Garden, Chapter five Discussing Heroes While Sipping Wine, Chapter sixteen Battle of Chibi, Chapter eighteen Seizing Nanjun Town, Chapter twenty Provoking Zhou Yu Three Times, Chapter twenty-five Guan Yu Drowns the Enemy Troops of Three Kingdoms-Adapted Picture Edition with Chinese Phonetic symbols and its translation text, this paper starts a comprehensive analysis and summary of the project according to the guidance of functionalist skopos theory. The original text has about8858words and the translation text has about6922words. The writer gave the first translation since no English version of the project has existed yet in China till now through serious retrieval.The paper consists of five chapters:Instruction, theoretical guidance for the translation practice, task description, discussion on translating the text according to the guidance of skopos theory and the summary. The first chapter mainly includes the background, target, effect and organization. The second chapter expounds separately the functionalist skopos theory and its guidance to the project. The third chapter has four parts, namely, content, linguistic features, preparation and process. Based on the first three parts, the fourth chapter starts from three aspects, that is, the translation of the original text, translation strategies and methods. The last chapter makes a summary of some experiences and lessons gained from the translation and the left problems to be solved.From the translation of this project, the writer will have the outlook that the children read it happily and love it really. Thus, based on the background of culture globalization, this translation will accelerate the international communication of region culture. Meanwhile, the application of functionalist skopos theory to guide the translation practice will deepen the writer’s understanding of the theory itself, moreover, it will contribute to improve the writer’s translation as well as cement my ability to start the translation practice with translation theory. |
