Machiavellianism is regarded as a behavioral tendency in which individuals use others as tools to achieve personal goals. And Machiavellianism, narcissism and subclinical psychopathy are both antisocial personalities which make up "Dark Triad". The "Dark Triad", a constellation of three conceptually distinct but showing close correlates socially aversive personality variables, consisting of three triad members: Machiavellianism, narcissism and subclinical psychopathy, is an important research achievement in the area of the dark side of personality. Intuitively, there is natural link between Dark Triad with counterproductive work behaviors (CWB), but the former doesn’t have a long rise time and the research which involves the relationship between the two variables is almost blank at home. And we don’t know how affective variables that are important for behaviors influence occurrence mechanism Of CWB when referring to negative personality traits. So it is an important study subject for us to deepen the understanding of internal relations between negative personality traits and CWB and functional mechanism among these three kinds of variables, which is based on our cultural background.Following the logical path of "personality-individual emotions-personal behavior", this study used structural equation model to test a model that posits that dark personality traits will have direct relationships with two types of CWB and indirect relationships to CWB through the mediating effects of job satisfaction. After building a theoretical model and proposing the specific research hypotheses, the paper collected large numbers of data through the questionnaire survey. Then we used statistical analysis tools such as SPSS18.0and PLS to conduct empirical analyses of the theoretical model and assumptions.Based on a sample (n=224), conclusions supported the hypothesized model. The main results are as follows:First, Machiavellianism had a direct relationship with interpersonal counterproductive work behaviors(CWB-I) and organizational counterproductive work behaviors (CWB-O), and had a stronger relationship with CWB-I. Second, job satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between Machiavellianism and both CWB-I and CWB-O.This paper deepened understanding of Machiavellianism influencing different forms of CWB and verified the mediating effect of affective variables for personality traits-CWB.
