Communicative Translation:a Report On E-C Translation Of Michelle Yeh’s On English Translation Of Modern Chinese Poetry And Acton’s MODERN CHINESE POETRY:Introduction

From the perspective of communicative translation put forward by Peter Newmark, this paper carries out a case study on the E-C translation of On English Translation of Modern Poetry and MODERN CHINESE POETRY:Introduction to explore communicative approaches to translation so as to meet the needs of both the academic community and non-academic friends.In this paper, the author sorted out the difficulties he/she encountered in translating the texts and classified them into four categories:translation of personal and book names, selective translation, back translation, correcting translation. By using different communicative approaches to solve those difficulties, the author hopes that those approaches will provide guidance for translation practice in the future.This translation project is part of the project conducted by Professor Ma Huijuan, Translation and Reception of Chinese Contemporary and Modern Literature in the English-speaking World, which studies the introduction of Chinese Contemporary and Modern Literature into the Western world and discusses the translation approaches to Chinese Contemporary and Modern Literature. In this sense, the translation project has academic, political, social and practice-guiding values.
