Research On The Impacts Of Cultural Industries On Urban Economic Transition

With the continuous evolution and development of urban functions, culturaladvantages are becoming increasingly important environmental advantages in thedevelopment of urban economic. In the In the background of Knowledge Economy,culture and innovation as the core growth elements of the cultural industry, hasbecome a new economic growth point of urban transition. The study about why andhow the cultural industries affect urban economic restructuring and developmentcontributes to a comprehensive understanding of the inherent dynamic mechanism inurban economic development and has a practical significance in accelerating theeconomic transition of the city. From the perspective of evolutionary economics, thisstudy discusses the internal mechanism of the cultural industries effects on urbaneconomic restructuring. In the case study of Xi’an, this paper demonstrates thepromotional path of cultural industries to urban economic transition. Throughtheoretical analysis and empirical research, we draw the following conclusions:From the perspective of evolutionary economics, after the capital and technologyfactors, cultural innovation is the main driving factor to promote urban economicrestructuring and development. In the era of globalization and information technology,the direction of modern urban transitional development is from manufacturing centersinto information, culture and service center. The cultural industry has features such asincreasing returns to scale, high permeability, high value-added, and can fullypromote economic restructuring and development of the city through culturalindustries and the creative development of other industries. The mechanism ofcultural industries promotes urban economic transformation include: cultural industrygrowth mechanism, the diffusion and spillover mechanism of cultural industries andcultural self-organizing mechanism of industrial clusters. In practice, thecomprehensive promotion paths of cultural industry to the economic transition incities mainly through the promotion of urban economic growth pattern, promotingurban industrial transformation and upgrading, leading urban consumption structure,driving to improve the quality of urban population and to accelerate the formation of urban brand. The sustainable economic development of Xi’an faces many constraints.The vigorous development of the cultural industry in line with the initial environmentof Xi’an economic restructuring and development, and the boosting role of culturalindustries for economic restructuring and development, mainly through four modes toachieve, such as resource transformation, value added, market expansion and upgradefeatures. Meanwhile, the practice research on the development of cultural industries inXi·an boost economic transformation verifies the path mechanism of the culturalindustry accelerates economic restructuring and development of the cities intheoretical analysis. Finally, with a quantitative analysis to the total index of thecultural industries development and urban economic transformation, this studyempirically demonstrated the promotion of cultural industries to the transitionaldevelopment of Xi’an economics.Based on above conclusions, this study provides a theoretical basis forgovernment departments to formulate industrial policy and urban spatial planning.This paper also put forward a number of policy recommendations to promote thedevelopment of cultural industries in Xi’an. Limitations of this study and futureresearch directions are mentioned in the last part of this article.
