Research Of Min Zhen And His Portraits

Min Zhen is a famous figure painter of middle Qing Dynasty. His ancestral home is Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, then move to Guangji,Hubei Province. Min Zhen lost his parents when he was very young, in order to draw his parents’ portraits,he started to learn realistic drawing. Min Zhen was also well in realistic drawing. The fine brushwork and line drawing accounted for a large proportion in his early meticulous figure painting. The style of his Figure painting was clear and elegant.After that his thick pen portraits and impressionistic style was similar to Huang Shen. Some scholars have classified him as a representative figure of Yangzhou school. In this thesis, Min Zhen’s portrait theme is regarded as the breakthrough point, The author investigates Min Zhen’s life and dating status early painting style and then there is a in-depth comparison in Min Zhen and Huang Shen. The author clarifies its relationship with Yangzhou paintings, Further find his traditional inheritance and innovation of individuals in this thesis.
