Su Shi and Huang Tingjian are two important persons in Chinese calligraphy history, for their unique running script performance.The development of running script had experienced wonderful periods in wei, jin and tang dynasties. Wei, Jin and Tang Dynasty have witnessed the most glorious development of running script whose focus "forms", until Northern Song Dynasty is transited from transferred from "forms" to "inner world of calligrapher", which made "Shang Yi" calligraphy style popular. Although Su shi and Huang Tingjian had different style, one is forthright and lucid, the other is vigorous, either the creation of running script or the performance of calligraphy hinges around on centered on the "Shang Yi" style which centers on self-expression and ignores the rules.There is always a hot discussion about Su Shi and Huang Tingjian in modern calligraphy field. This dissertation focuses on the causes of their aesthetic, aesthetic performance, the views of aesthetic art and the value of aesthetic critical, distinguishing and analyzing the difference between these two persons in details. Thereby guide our running script calligraphy creation better.
