Based on Guo Moruo's multiple identities after Liberation, the relationship between his multiple political identities and writer image is investigated through analysis of Guo as a diplomatic messenger, a state leader and the characteristic of literature manifested in important cultural activities after Liberation. Guo's mental changes in mutual conversion among each role identity after Liberation, as well as causes for evolution of his writer image during these mental changes are revealed in order to restore Guo's real existence in Early PRC. Discussion is expanded from three aspects. The relationship between Guo's identity as a diplomatic messenger and his writer image is described in the first chaper. As the diplomatic messenger of New China, Guo published many diplomatic comments full of strong literary flavor in addition to discourses on national ideology and foreign policy, which is reflected in five aspects such as borrowing of archaism and idioms, application of sentence pattern of parallelism, poeticizing, slogan, habitual expressions of hyperbole, metaphor, symbol and irony, and creation of a new literary style, i.e. visiting prose. Not noly his role of diplomatic messenger can be played much better through application of these literature techniques, but also people's patriotic emotion during special periods is aroused, and the masses of people are more united to make contribution to gradual grandness of the socialist camp in the international society. The relationship between Guo's identity as a state leader and his writer image is described in the second chaper. On the one hand, Guo as the state leader, not only created many styles of literary works, but also demonstrated his political intentions by means of literary elements during political acitivities such as decree propaganda. On the other hand, he vaguely manifested the literature feature in some political essays due to the special political environment. The relationship between Guo's political and cultural activities after Liberation and his writer image is investigated in the third chaper. The argument that Guo was centering on the theme of ideology and culture utilizing literature as political technique of expression during political struggle is analysed from four important political and cultural activities, i.e. criticism of the movie of Biography of Wuxun, criticism of Hushi's thought, criticism activity of Hufeng and anti-rightist struggle. We can obviously discover his special aspect as a writer from some comments in these activities. The innovative points of this paper lies in that: firstly, the literature locale which Guo was living in is earnestly studied by investigation of the relationship between his multiple identities and writer image after Liberaton, and the previous insufficient understanding of Guo after Liberation is remedied, as well as the present deviation of research to Guo after Liberation is corrected based on collection and classificaition of detailed historical materials. Secondly, some original views on significance of Guo's literary creation and literary form are expressed by means of theories of literature and politics. Thirdly, some inspiration is provided by the research results and methods of this paper on solution of difficult problems of Guo's research after Liberation, survival status of writer after Liberation and relationship between literature and politics.
