Depression is a kind of mood with low mood state, generally appearing as a long-lasting low emotional state with anxiety etc. negative emotion and physical discomfort. According to the investigation of World Health Organization, depression has become the 4th disease that damaging human health and its incidence presents the rising tendency. To explore the pathogenesis of depression, and put forward effective intervention strategies, is a challenge that the researchers have to face with at present even a long period in the future.Basing on the existing researches, the depression is related to the self-esteem. The individual whose self-esteem is lower or instability is more probably infect depression. The former researches laid emphasis on the differences and the relations in explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem between depressive persons and normal ones. But it's just a beginning on research of the stabilities of the two kinds of self-esteem of depressive individuals.In order to discover the stabilities of the two kinds of self-esteem of depressive individuals this paper developed a questionnaire, and took a series of strict experimental studies on depressive college students.This research has achieved the following conclusions:(1)The revision SSES has satisfying reliability and validity, and fits to the researches of stabilities of the explicit self-esteem.(2)It's significant that the level of explicit self-esteem of depressive college students lower than that of normal ones, but there's no notable difference in implicit self-esteem between the two kinds of people.(3)On the contrary of normal person, the depressive individuals have higher implicit self-esteem level and lower explicit self-esteem level, and difference is notable.(4)The explicit self-esteem of the two kinds of individuals is stability, and they're all not easy to change with the situations changed.(5) The implicit-esteem of depressive individuals is instability compared to the normal ones, and it easy to change with the situations changed.(6) The factors that explicit-esteem significantly lower than implicit self-esteem, as well as the instability of implicit self-esteem, can be the reason leading to depression.
