The Kang clan in Qimen is a native of Jingzhao Prefecture. For the turmoil in theFive Dynasties, it is moved to Wushang Township in Qimen. There are abundant andvarieties of remains of the Kang clan documents in Qimen which are bestoweddistinguished features. With an intensive study of the Kang clan documents, this thesiswas done to conduct a detailed analysis on the evolution of the Kang clan power.Contacts of the Kang clan mainly consist of consulting contracts and the restraintcontracts. Belonging to traditional contracts, the Kang Clan documents with greatadaptability are conductive to accommodating to internal relationships and maintainingthe stable clan. However, as the passage of time, the Kang clan documents gradually acton reconstructing and surpassing organizations which are based on ties of blood andgeography. The integration of the Kang clan can be divided into three main types by theindividual branch of an extended family, officials and intellectuals and special needswhich reveal the diversification in internal relations. As a result, internal relations arebroken up, the clan system is surpassed and the clan power is threaten to some extentwith the integration. The fading of the Kang clan power is reflected in contradictoryrelations in which differentiation in the clanship has an influence on the clan power, andthe relationship between master and servant worsened. Considering the development ofsociety inevitably decides the track of this evolution, the historical evolution of the Kangclan power can also be a case in the evolution of the clan power in Huizhou. |
