| The paper is classified into three sections. The first, from1910-20is the research on early practice of Xu Beihong, from his primary art education and his making of "The Happy Family of Kang Youwei" in terms of painting tecniques. In addition, the study intends to explore Xu’s oeuvre before his training in France. The second section is devoted to touch on Kang’s thoughts and ideas on painting as a way to approach the influence on Xu. The two sections are in the realm of Xu Beihong, while the third section broadens the horizon by exploring activities of the Shang Hai School from1910-20s, to elaborate the degree and latitude of Western impact on particularly Xu Beihong. |
