| Based on the quotation of popular words, popular cyberspeak withfixed format is formed by the extraction of popular frame so that newcontents can be filled in under different contexts on the Internet. As amedia genre in Internet news headlines, popular cyberspeak with fixedformat can recontextualize and transform various social practices. Thisstudy explores popular cyberspeaks especially those with fixed format inthe context of Internet news headlines from the perspective ofrecontextualization. It finds that they are recontextualized throughmeaning potential, intertextuality and interdiscursivity of text with theintentions of promoting oneself, performing social actions and achievingan effect of entertainment. Through recontextualization, popularcybersepaks construct social identity, social reality as well as socialculture. Meanwhile, such discursive changes as the marketization,conversationalization and democratization of discourse are probed. After an discursive interpretation and explanatory critique of therecontextualization of popular cyberspeaks with fixed format in Internetnews headlines, it manifests that how popular cyberspeaks represent oursocial world and reveal social problems, aiming at raising people’sconcern about the interactive relationship between discourse and socialchange. Additionally, this study also contributes to cultivating people’scritical awareness, which is becoming a prerequisite for democraticcitizenship. |
