Interpretation Practice Report On Lecture Series The American Presidency From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

This interpretation practice report is based on the simultaneous interpretationsimulation of the public lecture George W. Bush and Richard Nixson from the publiclecture series From Roosevelt to Bush: The American Presidency in Gresham collegeintroduced by Professor Vernon Bogdanor. This simulation aims to show the liveinterpretation in an honest and vivid way. This report mainly introduces the wholeprocess of the interpretation, including video material selection, relevant materialcollection and speaker’s accent adaption in the initial preparation period, evaluation ofthe interpretation when the interpretation is finished, and analysis of the problem aftermodification of the interpretation. Besides, based on the specific cases and examples,this report summarizes and further predicts problems that may appear duringinterpretation so that interpreters can take proper skill trainings accordingly in aneffective way. Through this process, we can become qualified in interpretation taskand work.
