| This is a translation project report. The source text of this translation project comes from abrochure, entitled Believe in America——Mitt Romney’s Plan for Jobs and Economic Growth,which is the campaign brochure of Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate of the2012U. S. presidential election. I translate the third part of this brochure under the commissionof my friend. To guide translation practice with translation theories that we’ve learnt is the basicquality of MTI students oriented to practice. In this translation project report, I mainly employedGerman functional skopostheorie in the procedure of pre-translation analysis, focusing theanalysis on the translation goal of source text, target text’s function and language orientation, anduse the final analysis to make translation strategies which will be adopted through the wholetranslation process. This translation practice report is divided into two parts, which aretranslation and translation review. In the part of translation review, I introduce every proceduresof this translation project in detail which involve pre-translation preparation, pre-translationanalysis and translation strategies-making, and I also briefly introduce the core view ofskopostheorie. In the meantime, I sort through some typical examples which I encounter in thewhole translation process, such as idiom-handling involved with language and cultural factors,semantic extension, supplement and embodiment, sentence group division and recombination,cohesion-handling, title translation, and verifying the guiding function of translation strategieswhich I make in the process of E-C translation on literal material. |
