Peer interaction, also known as peer communication, is a process for peer understanding each other through verbal expression, interactive behavior, through which peer can exchange different ideas, resolve conflicts and convey emotion. Peer relationship, the result of children’s peer interaction, is an early relationships, which set up by children with same or similar age through mutual cooperation in peer interaction. In other words, peer relationship is an interpersonal relationship set up by children with similar psychological development level, which have an important influence on children’s psychological and social adaptation. So domestic and foreign scholars have conducted a series of research on peer interaction and peer relationship. Previous studies found that parenting style is an important environmental variable affecting the children’s personality and social development, which also has an important influence on the quality of children’s peer interaction, peer relationship. In those studies, the children’s popularity always been use as the main indicator to measure the quality of peer relationships and peer interaction, which refers to children’s peer acceptance level in peer interaction. So we intends to discuss the influence of parenting style on 5-8 years old children’s popularity in peer interaction.In this study,400 pupils and their parents have been required to conduct the peer nomination and EMBU questionnaire. EMBU questionnaire, which development by Swedish scholars C. Perris, and revised by Yue Dongmei, aimed to assess parents’ parenting attitude and behavior. It contain two sub scale, Father’s parenting style scale and Mother’s parenting style scale, the former includes 6 dimensions,58 items, and the latter includes 5 dimensions,57 items. The peer nomination questionnaire is divided into two parts, "like peer nomination" and "dislike peer nomination", children are required to fill three names according to the degree of like or dislike.390 questionnaires were recovered,370 questionnaires were effective. All collected data were processed by data analysis software, SPSS 19.0. This article discussed the relationship between parenting style and children’s popularity in their peer, through the way of literature review, and empirical analysis. On this basis, we explore the role of parenting style on the children’s peer interaction.The results of this study:Children, whose parents have higher grade on the dimension of Emotional warmth in parenting style questionnaires, will be more popular in their peer interaction.The education level of parents can affect the popularity of their children, it can improve or reduce the children’s popularity in their peer through change their parenting style. In other words, parenting style plays a mediating role between parents’ education level and their children’s popularity in their peerThere was no significant difference between male and female on the popularity of children.
