Abstract/Summary:
Film and television art is the comprehensive creation including cultural connotation spreading between areas and countries, and subtitle translation is the communication between different cultures. So, subtitle translation plays an important role in the cultural communication. With the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, the author analyzes the translation of traditional Chinese medical terms in the first episode of Ipartment 4 (a popular Chinese TV serial), puts forward translation strategies and hopes these strategies can be used in the subtitle translation of Chinese film and television so that Chinese films and televisions with traditional culture can go to the world, making more foreign audiences contact and know about Chinese traditional culture and promoting the spreading of Chinese traditional culture and international cultural communication. There are five parts in the report. The first part is introduction. In this part, the author gives the definition and characteristics of the subtitle and subtitle translation as well as the research significance of the report. The second part is the introduction of the translation task. The third part introduces the translation process. In this part, preparation before translation and task performance are included. Part four is a study on the translation of traditional Chinese medical terms in the first episode of Ipartment 4 under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory. It includes the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory for subtitle translation and the summary of translation methods of traditional Chinese medical terms in Ipartment 4 under the guidance of the theory (taking episode 1 as an example), such as the translation of acupoints, classics of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese medical professional terms and traditional Chinese medical treatment terms. The fifth part is the conclusion, in which the author expresses her translation experience and further thinking about the unsolved problems in this translation practice.
