| The translation report is a summary of my translation of Creativity, Inc. Creativity, Inc, created by Ed Catmull, the president of Pixar Animation Studios and Disney Animations Studios. The book mainly talks about the stories of the Pixar Animation Studios, as well as Catmull’s epiphany of the management theories. This report introduces the information and the process of this translation project in the first place, and then mainly talks about the difficult parts in the translation process and the strategies and solutions for them.There are three parts in this report.Part one is the overview of the translation project: the goal and the status of the translation project, the introduction of the author Ed Catmull as well as his book Creativity, Inc.Part two is the introduction of the translation process: the pre-translation preparation and the translation phase. The pre-translation preparation includes the analysis of the source text, and then the research and study are done after the analysis. The translation phase includes the first draft and the proofreading. The error correcting and the polishing are finished in the proofreading part.Part three is the core of this report: case analysis. The content includes the analysis of the book’s title as well as the representative cases encountered in the translation process. Under the guidance of functional equivalence proposed by Nida, the translator strives to achieve functional equivalence between the two languages.In the final part of this report, the translator reflects on the whole translation project and summarizes the lessons learnt through this process. |
