| The Chinese have always held that food is the paramount necessity of the people.Since ancient times, the Chinese have been paying special attention to food by pursuing the integration of color, aroma and taste. As China increasingly engages in international affairs,Chinese delicacies as well as the cultures contained in them are brought to other countries.Due to cultural disparities, there will be some differences in meaning between Chinese and English when people interpret between languages. Thus, it is necessary to apply specific interpreting strategies when it comes to some sentences and words in C-E interpreting, so that the interpreter can transfer the meanings of the source language to the target readers in the most appropriate ways in English. This paper uses Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory as its theoretical basis, and expounds on the contents of the theory. It emphasizes the strategy of C-E consecutive interpreting, aiming to lay a solid foundation for future C-E interpreting, at the same time, to bring China’s delicacies and its unique culture to the world, promote the exchange and cooperation between China and the western world for a peaceful future. |
