| In the history of Chinese modern poetry, as the founder of the Xizhuan School of poetry in late Qing dynasty, Chang Hong, whose poetics status was second only to the major poet of Xizhuan School, Wang Rongbao, gathered the elites from all social circles to pursue the common interest of studying poetry and initiated a new poetic school of Yushan. With the universal feelings of Confucian principles, Chang Hong, who dedicated himself to the service of his country, sacrificed his wealth to relieve the distress of people. With an abundant view, the absorption of the merits of hundred schools and the essence of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, Chang Hong promoted the ancient poetry during the transition from the old to the new, which, with a very high research value, was a great achievement in the flow of the history of poetry and the development of Chinese culture. This thesis, based his collection of poems, the poetry draft of Man Chao and incorporating the rich historical materials, comments from various schools and the check of related press and literature, conducts a comprehensive and systematic research on Chang Hong’s Poetry from six aspects of the verification of different editions, connections with that time, artistic inheritance, relations with other poetic schools, his poetry position and influence and his travel experience and friendship in order to establish Chang Hong’s status in the history of poetry, literature and thought while giving the original appearance to history. |
