| Jin Dai Shi Chao is an important collection of modern poetry in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,whose compiler Chen Yan is one of the most important poetic theorists in modern times and the chief theorist and critic of Tongguang Style Poem School.This book includes more than seven thousand poems from Qi Junzao of the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty to poets of the early Republic of China,which is an anthology of epochal poetry on a large scale.Chen Yan and Jin Dai Shi Chao have important status and value in the history of modern poetry,literature history and literary criticism history,which deserves more attention and in-depth investigation and research.At first,this article focuses on the research of Chen Yan’s family learning and Shi Yi Shi Shi You Shi Lu,and then examines Jin Dai Shi Chao from the version,style,reasons for writing and ways of choosing poetry,and explore Chen Yan’s poetics proposition and thought by analyzing the issues in the extracts of poets and poems.Lastly,the book’s literary value and literature value are revealed.The first chapter takes Chen Yan’s family learning as the research object firstly,investigating the influence of his family education on the construction of his cultural system and poetics.Then,based on the prototype of Jin Dai Shi Chao,Shi Yi Shi Shi You Shi Lu,this article investigates its publication in the Guo Xue Cui Bian and the poets it includes,and elaborates the similarities and differences between it and Jin Dai Shi Chao in the aspects of biographies of poets and comments on poems,paving the way for the following research on Jin Dai Shi Chao.The second chapter discusses the reasons for the compilation and selection of Jin Dai Shi Chao and its ways to choose poems.There are two main reasons for Chen Yan’s selection of Jin Dai Shi Chao.First of all,adhering to the spirit of “being elegant”,he collected modern poetry to record the turbulent social history.Secondly,in line with the love of poetry and the awareness of the protection of Chinese traditional culture,he collected poems and compiled this book,so that they would not be lost in the turbulent times.The selection of poems in Jin Dai Shi Chao is diversified,including the poems selected from poets’anthologies,sought by editors actively,submitted by poets,and obtained from relatives and friends,etc.The third chapter introduces the edition and style of Jin Dai Shi Chao in detail.It was published in the 12 th year of the Republic of China(1923),and republished in the 24 th year of the Republic of China(1935).In recent years,punctuated and revised version of the book appeared.This paper describes the circulation of its editions and the similarities and differences among the editions.Then,the preface,note,catalogue,biographies of poets and the attached poems are discussed in turn,and the style of Jin Dai Shi Chao is comprehensively investigated.The fourth chapter analyzes the poems of the selected poets in Jin Dai Shi Chao.In terms of the selection of poets,this paper discusses the order,identity,region and school of the selected poets,and uses the data as the support to describe the poets in Jin Dai Shi Chao.In particular,by showing the number of poets in region and school,Chen Yan’s emphasis on the Fujian poets and the poets in Song Dynasty is reflected.In the aspect of poetry selection,the article clarifies the number of poems selected,corrects the wrong data about the number of poems in Jin Dai Shi Chao,and investigates the order of the selected poems in the collection,which is generally based on the time of poetry creation,so the follow-up research can get some help and reference.Finally,the genre and content of the selected poems are analyzed,and at the same time,the selection criteria of the editors are explored.The fifth chapter discusses Chen Yan’s promotion of Song Dynasty poetics embodied in Jin Dai Shi Chao.Jin Dai Shi Chao is one of the important carriers for Chen Yan to inherit the tradition of promoting Song poetry.In the attached poems,Chen Yan discusses the poetic approach of the selected poets,among which the poetic approach of promoting Song poetry makes up the majority.In addition,Chen Yan’s selection of poets paid attention to the study of talent,advocated the combination of poems of scholars and poems of poets,and selected a lot of theoretical poems with classical books,calligraphy and painting,and inscriptions as the objects of recitation.All these are the embodiment of Chen Yan’s promotion of Song poetry.The sixth chapter explores the literary value and literature value of Jin Dai Shi Chao.The study of it is conducive to the further study of Chen Yan’s poetic thoughts,and can provide reference for sorting out the context of poetic history in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,which is of great value to the study of poetics and even literature at that time.The comments on poems attached in Jin Dai Shi Chao also have important value of literary criticism.At the same time,Jin Dai Shi Chao,as an important collection of poems in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,preserves a wealth of poems and literati materials and has a high literature value. |
