| As for the development of the study, we found out that metaphors do not only exit in language, it is also our human beings general ways of thinking. But in the real daily life, we can’t realize it because the process is automatic and continually without any outside efforts. In fact, metaphors are from and rooted in our experience and culture, in contrast, a mature metaphor can influence our social culture and experience, even at last forming a new base of expression. The essay is focus on the comparison of "re" and "hot" in English and Chinese, which is based on lot examples. Because of human beings common sense and similar feeling of taste and neurology, "hot" and "re" shares a lot common meanings. However, since the different ways of cognitive, ways of thinking, historical background, customs and social institution, "hot" and "re" also bear some different meaning with each other. According to many examples, we can find out that "hot" holds more meanings than "re" does and also cover more sides. As for the reasons of the differences, the author makes a deeper analysis of cultural differences between China and western countries. At last, the purpose of our study is for the activities of learning Chinese as a second language. After we take a large amount of activities, we got the conclusion that the concept of metaphor really can help students learn a new Chinese word, and based on the concept of metaphors, teachers can set a really situation for the students and let them take part into it to learn and get the usage of the new word. |
