In most documents, "interpretation" refers to oral translation which literally means that interpreter orally converts source language into target language. With deepening opening and reform and rapid growth of Chinese economy, demand for interpreters has increased intensely. However, there is still much room for improvement in training curricula of interpretation for they are still at the initial stage. Interpretation training contains many aspects such as shadowing exercise, expansion of vocabulary, number memory, sight interpretation and consecutive interpretation. In this thesis, consecutive interpretation will be the point under discussion and English-Chinese/Chinese-English interpretation quality of Central China Normal University interpretation team will be researched.Different from simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation refers to the way in which interpreter converts the speech into another language after the speech maker talked for 5 to 10 minutes. Compared to consecutive interpretation in official meetings, the requirement for daily training is not as strict: students can learn about relative theme, background knowledge and vocabulary; each subparagraph last 1 to 2 minutes and under less pressure, student can take full advantage of memory and note-taking to take down information. Because of this reason, most interpretation training institutes use this approach to train listening, note-taking and interpretation output ability of beginners.Out of the need for communication, evaluation of interpretation quality has emerged by the time interpretation appeared. Only at early stage, the evaluation is self-motivated, scattered, mono-directional or even subjective assumption. Professional interpretation requires regulations and criteria, so does interpretation training which appeared out of the professional need. In this thesis, on basis of evaluation standard of China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters(CATTI) and Shanghai Intermediate/Advanced Interpretation, some criteria not applicable to self-evaluation has been eliminated and other existing criteria has been adjusted and quantified to set the evaluation criteria suitable for this experiment. Instead of proportion of passage completion, scores are used to directly reflect the quality of interpretation.Members of CCNU Interpretation team were selected from undergraduates and masters who are interested in interpretation. They has passed several test and formed a team along with students from MTI interpretation class. Among them non-English majors have passed CET-6 and English majors have passed TEM-4, which indicates that their English level is excellent. Two training materials has been selected from "Field Interpreting"[1] for students to complete consecutive interpretation. Afterwards, interpretation evaluation criteria were used to score their each paragraph. Through analysis of their recordings and notes, major problems and barriers in their daily interpretation training appear and corresponding solution and reasonable suggestions were raised according to researches on interpretation training previously made by scholars.
