Dai Tingshi was born in Qi county,Shan xi Provence. Many of his family members were officials. All of them had many good qualities, such as integrity, clean and so on. They were pay more attention to the livelihood of people. Dai Tingshi went into the San Li college to have a study at the age of twenty. This period was critical for him. Yuan Jianxian who was his teacher attached great importance to teaching and practical learning. Dai Tingshi and his classmates have noble character and outstanding learning. Some of them sacrificed their lives for the ideal. Others choose refused to cooperate with the new regime, they were engaged in culture activities to enrich themselves, at the same times contribute to local culture. Fu Shan was one of the most outstanding in his many classmates. They were very close friends. In that special period, they support each other in the aspects of literature and art.When the Ming Dynasty perished and the Qing dynasty set up, Dai Tingshi’s ambition to be an official perished. Certainly, he chose through the culture activities to enrich their own life. He built a library in hometown. He named the library in Dan Feng which so famous in that period in the north. The garden of Shui Hui was Mao Chaomin built in Ru Gao. The library of Dan Feng and the garden of Shui Hui were the cultural symbols in the north and south. The library of Dan Feng collected a lot of paintings and books, attracting so many well-known scholars to have a communication. He hosted a lot of cultural activities, thus, he became a cultural elite from a lower-level intellectual. So the main factors make MR.Dai became more popular is the function of Dan Feng library.During the early time of Qing dynasty, he made up his mind to not cooperate with the ruler. He committed all of his energy to his cultural activities. But the reality is so cruel that he chose to compromise with the new regime in the last. This experience really let Mr.Dai in an awkward situation. He chose to use a word "ban ke"to evaluate himself which means partial affirmation and partial disavowal. Mr.Dai’and some other traditional intellectual shared the same experiences. When he died, his influence didn’t cease. His descendants and countrymen always committed to looking for his works. The local officials and local intellectuals appreciated Mr.Dai’s outstanding cultural activities in Dan Feng liabrary. In the early of the republic of China, Chang Zanchun, Qu Benqiao published Mr.Dai’s works which named 《Ban Ke Ji》. Such behavior expressed their worship of the cultural elite. Mr.Dai’image in later generations’eyes became an academic model.
