In recent years, the documentary film has becoming more and more popular. China has produced many excellent documentaries during this time, which were loved by the audiences. With the communication between China and the rest of the world getting closer, our documentary film can be regarded as a tool to show China’s image. Therefore, there is a necessity for us to do the translation work about it. Besides, the practice is done by interpreting and mainly discusses the difficulties and cases involved. This interpreting report selects Episode 6 and part of Episode 5 of the documentary film The Pillars of a Great Power as the source text. The method of practice is consecutive interpreting. It analyzes some cases and summarizes difficulties during the interpreting process. This report consists of three parts: an introduction, the main body and a conclusion. The main body is divided into three chapters. The first chapter mainly gives a detailed introduction of the interpreting background, necessity, and purpose. The second chapter introduces the preparation work and process. The third chapter is a case study under the guidance of strategies including omission, amplification, literal translation, free translation and sense-group division. Lastly, the interpreter also draws a detailed conclusion based on the cases involved. At present, the Chinese-English interpreting practice is rare. The documentary film The Pillars of a Great Power gives a detailed introduction to the development of industrial equipment manufacturing in China and shows the remarkable achievements that China has made in recent years. It is a challenge as the subject is new and there are lots of terminologies. But it is also a meaningful attempt. The interpreter hopes that the report could also be a guide to others.
