The Study Of Foshan Autumn Lantern From The Perspective Of Regional Culture

Foshan Colored Lantern, commonly known as light color, with its exquisite craftsmanship and varied shapes, becomes a prominent representative of Lingnan Colored lantern, as well as a main school of China’s traditional lantern. From the craftsmanship and the material,Foshan Colored Lantern can be divided into traditional colored lantern and autumn lantern. In this paper, the autumn lantern, the branch of Foshan Colored Lantern, will be the object of study. Autumn lantern is the product of the prosperity of Foshan autumn tournament, and it is listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list together with tournament as yearly festivals, moreover, it is the essence of Foshan folk crafts.This paper will mainly integrate autumn lantern into the view of regional culture in Foshan, from the perspective of craftsmanship, design and folklore, combined with the color, style, aesthetic, culture and others,do an analysis of the geographical environment, historical development,design features and cultural connotation, as well as dilemma of Foshan autumn lantern.First of all, through the literature review and data analysis, the regional characteristics, the history origins and the development ofFoshan autumn lantern are summarized in this paper, the aesthetic criteria for folk handicrafts is traced; the religious belief and the folk custom hidden behind Foshan autumn lantern is further analyzed, so as to excavate the deeply cultural connotation that the autumn lantern would love to express. Secondly, explore the material, style, color and decorative features of the autumn lantern, and respectively analyze the aesthetic characteristics of Foshan autumn lantern from shape, decoration and style, in order to excavate the value of the aesthetic of Foshan autumn lantern; moreover, focus on the analysis of the connotation expressed by Foshan autumn lantern from different level of aesthetic tastes more comprehensively, and then further dissect the symbolic connotation contained in the forms. Finally, the internal and external factors that hinder the development of Foshan autumn lantern are analyzed in this paper, make a list of appropriate protection measures against these unfavorable factors to reverse the crisis of the autumn lantern to be the verge of extinction.
