Ang Lee, who was born in Taiwan, influenced by the impact of Chinese traditional culture and also cultivated by Western culture because of his later study experience in America, is a director with a dual cultural identity, whose Chinese and Western culture idea profoundly affect the cultural presents of his "Family Trilogy".The Chinese cultural presented in Ang Lee’s "family trilogy" exhibits a concentrated display of family-based, patriarchal power, the concept of marriage and the face, such as Chinese traditional values; in the form of expression, the mood around the Chinese classical aesthetics, creating a scenes, virtual and real and other artistic atmosphere.The Western cultural presented in "Family Trilogy" is mainly reflected in the personal priority, rights-based, the freedom of marriage, etc., is reflected in the form of sophisticated and varied film composition, objective plain film narrative and other Western art form, given the series of films rich western flavor.The Chinese and Western cultural presented in "Family Trilogy" has enlightening significance for Chinese movies, of which the inclusive cultural values, tastes and cultural balance, gentle aesthetic style and etc. are worth learning for Chinese filmakers.
