| This report is based on the simulated interpretation of The 2014 State of the Union Address by Obama. Guided by the Interpretive Theory, the author makes a detailed description of the interpreting process and the application of interpreting strategies.The report consists of four chapters. The first chapter is task description. It introduces the background of the State of the Union Address and the requirements of interpreting the address. The second chapter deals with process description, including preparation, interpreting process and the check work after interpreting. The third chapter involves the theoretical framework and case analysis. In this part, the Interpretive Theory is introduced in three perspectives such as sense, sense unit and the Triangular Model. Under the guidance of the theory, various interpreting strategies are adopted and some typical cases analyzed at lexical, syntactical and rhetorical level respectively. The fourth chapter is conclusion. In this part, the author summarizes the gains from and deficiencies of the simulated interpretation task. |
