The number of the dummy verbs in modern Chinese is very limited, but it is a very special type of verbs. On the basis of previous studies, this paper classifies and induces the practical characteristics of the three dummy verbs:"jinxing", "jiayi", "jiyu". This paper also examines the distribution and usage of the dummy verbs in TCFL, as well as investigates the dummy verbs acquisition situation of foreign students, which mainly combines the result from the HSK dynamic composition corpus and a questionnaire survey on Anhui University foreign students. Afterwards, it analyses the students’ error types and reasons while acquiring dummy verbs. Finally this article puts forward with corresponding suggestions in teaching. A clear structure of the full article is as follows:The first chapter is introduction. It expounds the research purposes and significance, as well as research objects and methods. In addition, the results of previous studies are reorganized, including the ontology research on dummy verbs themselves and teaching research on dummy verbs, and the deficiency of the research on dummy verbs. The second chapter is an investigation and analysis of the dummy verbs of TCFL, in which examines distribution and main usage of the dummy verbs "jinxing", "jiayi" and "jiyu" in TCFL.The third chapter is an investigation and analysis of the HSK dynamic corpus. Mainly based on the content of the HSK dynamic composition corpus, the chapter compiles and induces the rate of accuracy and errors of foreign students’ acquisition. Two dimensions are brought to analyze students’acquisition situation. On the one hand, puts the three dummy verbs:"jinxing", "jiayi" and "jiyu" as study points, the chapter focuses on respectively examining foreign students’ acquisition of verbs for each form with A, B, C and no certificates levels. On the other hand, puts the four certificates levels as study basis, the chapter respectively observes each level of foreign students’acquisition of the three dummy verbs. The fourth chapter is a questionnaire design of the Anhui University foreign students, including reorganization and analysis of respondents, methods and research results, by way of studying the acquisition situation on "jinxing", "jiayi" and "jiyu" of junior, intermediate and advanced students in Anhui University. Finally the chapter comes to a conclusion that the errors rate of junior is significantly higher than that of middle and senior students because of staying on a primary stage of learning the dummy verbs. The fifth chapter is an analysis of the errors made by foreign students’ acquisition on dummy verbs. The inductive analysis is mainly exploited to describe the causes types and bias when students learn dummy verbs ("jinxing", "jiayi" and "jiyu") during the acquisition. Firstly, summarizes the errors types, including redundancy, misuse, missing and fault collocation with objects of the dummy verbs,, etc. Secondly, sums up the reasons for those errors, consisting of the negative transfer of mother tongue and over generalization of the target language rules, with the hope to avoid using and learning environment. The sixth chapter is a conclusion. First of all, summarizes the research results of this article. Then, puts forward with teaching suggestions from two aspects:textbooks compiling and exercise setting. Finally, points out the shortages of this study and remains a high expectation of further research.
