Metaphor is the world’s most widely used rhetorical device, it combines potential links between things with people’s subjective understanding, forming a language association, which has aesthetic characteristics. People from different culture background will have different awareness and understanding of the environment, so different cultural backgrounds tend to produce different forms of metaphor. These kinds of culture differences are becoming one of the obstacles of language learning and understanding.Chinese language has much kind of metaphor forms. Metaphors in idioms are full of unique beauty of Chinese language. Idioms are always a hard problem in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. From one side, senior level students are interested in learn idioms which are closely related to Chinese culture, they are eager to learn and use large numbers of idioms. On the other side, teachers don’t have a systematically way to teach idioms and the culture behind, "learn when it appears"is still the only way of idioms learning.This paper is standing on the point of Metaphor type idiom, studying the valve and tactics of metaphor culture in second language learning by sorting out the culture meaning of these idioms. By separating the Metaphor type idioms from the Xinhua Idioms Dictionary, we divided these Metaphor type idioms into three kind, "Objects", "Behavior and Phenomenon", "Allusions", summarizes the culture meaning from the Chinese culture background by contrasting the metaphor meaning with the metaphor objects. Classify these Metaphor type idioms into different collections with same culture meaning, sift the idioms in the collections which are suitable for second language learning according to the frequency of the use of native speakers with the help of Beijing University Corpus". Finally, give out some idea for second language teaching according to the characteristics of idioms collections and culture meaning of the metaphor objects, to provide some beneficial suggestions for collective teaching of the metaphor type idioms.
